Tendus. My books say “Simple Tendus” or “Tendu Simples” and I’m all like, What? There ain’t nothin’ simple about that!
Well, okay, maybe it’s simple to the amazing ballerinas out there who could probably tendu while in a coma and are doing much more complex tendus than I could even dream of, but they aren’t so simple when you’re a beginner AND you’re trying to do them properly.
Always trying to lead with my heel. My heel can’t literally move in front of my toes when moving forward, of course, but I am trying to lead the movement with my heel. If that makes sense? For example, it feels like my heel is the first thing to move.
When tenduing to the back I lead the movement with my toes.
Here is me trying to work my point correctly in my tendus moving forward. You can see that my right hip is more flexible than my left. I lose the heel lead halfway through the left tendu. I am happy that I am trying for the correct feeling and position, though.
This was a video that I took snap shots from. It’s pretty dodgy imagery … sorry!
